Spelga Mews and Spelga Avenue provide accommodation for older people with dementia, or frail older persons who have care and support needs. The accommodation has been developed to enable residents to remain as independent as possible. Staff are available to provide person centred care and support. Splega Mews and Avenue provides a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where relatives are encouraged to get involved in the day-to-day life.
Spelga Mews is a supported housing scheme with twelve units of accommodation. Its aim is to create a homely environment, which provides comfort and security to older people diagnosed with dementia. Support staff are available at all times to meet the residents care and support needs. Assistive technology, catering and laundry services are also provided. Spelga Mews comprises of two small group living areas. Each area has six flatlets with an en-suite and walk in shower, communal areas include a lounge, domestic style kitchen, dining room and bathrooms. A secure garden provides a safe environment for the residents and helps to facilitate freedom of movement, independence and choice.
Spelga Avenue consists of twelve bungalows for older people with dementia or older persons with complex needs, who can live with a greater degree of independence than those in Spelga Mews. The bungalows are located adjacent to Spelga Mews. Support staff are available on site from 8am to 8pm, providing support, enabling the tenants in remaining as independent as possible. Each bungalow has access to assistive technology services and tenants have the opportunity to purchase meals and laundry services from Spelga Mews.
