Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can you pay your rent online?
Yes, this opportunity is available on our home page. Please click on the button stating, Pay Your Rent Online.
2. Can you smoke in the house and are there any restrictions for visitors?
Smoking in your own home is allowed in Fold schemes and properties as with any other private house or apartment. However most schemes with internal communal areas such as lounges, corridors and foyers are already non-smoking and all will become non smoking on 30 April 2007. Visitors to your own home can come whenever you want them to and the only restriction is that they do not cause any annoyance or disturbance to others.
3. Are there waiting lists for Fold accomodation?
Yes, whenever Fold has a vacant house or apartment, we select applicants from the Common Selection Scheme, which is a waiting list used by all housing associations and the Housing Executive. If you would like to apply, please phone 90428167 to request an application form.
4. Who pays for Fold accommodation and how much does it cost?
Depends what kind of accommodation. If it is Housing-with-Care, the Health &Social Services Trust will carry out a financial assessment. If assets are under a certain limit then funding may be available from the Health &Social Services Trust. The weekly charges for Fold accommodation depend on the size of the house or apartment and the services provided. Weekly rents for a 1 bedroom apartment in a Sheltered Scheme are approximately £75 - £85 per week currently and for a family house rents start from about £70 per week. If a tenant is on a low income Housing Benefit may pay all or part of the rent.
5. Does the government provide funding for Fold Housing Association or is it a privately run sector?
Fold Housing Association is a recognised Charity and we rely on Housing Association Grant from the Department and Social Development to provide core funding in our development of social housing in Northern Ireland.
