CASTLE ERNE SHORTLISTED FOR THE 2011 UK HOUSING AWARDS

Castle Erne, EnniskillenEnniskillen based Castle Erne has been shortlisted from more than 240 entries to the 2011 UK Housing Awards. These awards are now in their 15th year and recognise outstanding work in housing which improves the lives of people in their communities.

Fold Housing Association is now one of four left in the running for the outstanding achievement  in housing in NI.

The event is organised by Inside Housing magazine and the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH), and attracted a phenomenal response with submissions from the length and breadth of the UK.

CIH Interim Chief Executive, Grainia Long, said “I am delighted that as we celebrate the fifteenth year of the UK housing awards the calibre of entries is as excellent as ever. We hear much about the need for innovation in housing - the shortlisted finalists are examples of going beyond ideas - putting innovation into practice.  Well done to all of the finalists”

Stuart Macdonald, editor of Inside Housing, said: ‘The quality of the entries rose again this year so even to get this far is an amazing achievement. In the face of some really stiff competition, Castle Erne has shown it is performing at the highest level - well done!’

George Morris, Care Services Manager for Castle Erne commented, “It is befitting that Castle Erne is receiving such national recognition for the difference it makes to so many people in Co. Fermanagh.

Castle Erne provides accommodation for adults who have been made homeless and residents are welcome to stay for up to two years whilst they search for a permanent home.”

The winners will be revealed at an awards ceremony at London’s Hilton Hotel on 9 November hosted by Michael Portillo. The awards are sponsored by United House, Apollo Property Services Group, Devonshire Solicitors, Kier Building Maintenance, Welsh Assembly and The Scottish Government.
